When you begin planning your wedding you will be overwhelmed with the sheer extent of detail involved. One of the most important aspects of your wedding reception, no matter how big or small, are the centerpieces you will include on your tables. Wedding Table Centerpieces are very much an established element of the majority of weddings nowadays, even more so than wedding favors or a traditional three tier cake.
However, when it comes to deciding on your wedding table centerpieces, the world is your oyster. There are absolutely no hard and fast rules and although it may be traditional to include flowers, this is by no means a requirement.
Your wedding table centerpieces will greatly enhance the overall theme of the wedding and can both be inspired by, or indeed inspire, the decor. As they usually appear on every table, it is important that they look good, both up close and from a distance. You want your guests sitting by them to be impressed and delighted with the detail. You also want your wedding table centerpieces to look good in the photographs, as well as setting an overall impression to your guests arriving at the venue.
Although you will want to keep in theme with your wedding when designing your unique wedding table centerpieces, you should never forget that the decision is yours, and you alone can choose how you want your table centerpieces to look. Some brides are swayed by the time of year or season, others have a traditional mindset and some may just want to be slightly quirky and unusual with their choice of centerpieces. Flowers are certainly the traditional, and still most popular, choice of table centerpiece. Easy flowers to work with include daisies and cala lillies which are both popular choices for a spring time wedding. Antique Roses go down well at vintage style weddings and very often floral arrangements are chosen purely by colour, in order to match the bridesmaids or the bride's favourite color choice. Thistles are a popular choice amongst families with Scottish roots and tropical flowers are very popular for beach themed and destination weddings.
A romantic and increasingly popular addition to centerpieces is the use of candles, these can be the focal point of a floral display, or they are often featured in a vase filled with pebbles or sand. Some people like floating candles and others use tall freestanding candle lanterns, which are especially popular at outdoor venues. Candles come in a multitude of colours, shapes and sizes so can again be used to set the scene and blend in nicely with the wedding decoration. For a simple yet sophisticated style of wedding table centerpieces, you should take a clear glass vase and fill it with water. Then dye the water with food coloring to match your chosen color scheme. You could then place a coordinating floating candle or free-floating water lily into each of them. This provides the warmth and romance of a candle centerpiece with simplicity and clean lines of sophistication.
When trying to think up wedding table ideas you are only limited by your imagination. If you are having a coastal or beach wedding, why not consider incorporating seashore items such as driftwood, shells, rope or seaweed into your table centerpiece. If you are romantics at heart, then you could sew red cushioned lovehearts, scattered with confetti and darling white doves. A farm wedding could feature straw and miniature farmyard animals in the wedding table centerpieces and a winter wedding could have fake snow or tinsel, holly and robin red-breasts.
Whatever you decide, you should not lose sight of the fact that this is a day of commitment, happiness and fun. Don't get caught up in the details and make yourself miserable. Desigining your own unique wedding table centerpieces should be an enjoyable task that brings a personal touch to the proceedings and adds to the excitement of your big day. Begin by brainstorming with your bridesmaids or close friends, take a notepad and think of colours, themes, styles, sizes, shapes, unique elements and the overall impression you wish to make - simple and classic, humorous, traditional, unusual or tailored to your individual personalities. Let your imagination run wild and make your wedding table centerpieces a talking point and detail for your guests to remember.
